About

sOCIAL IMPACT

Gert Lush Events is on a mission to create a positive social impact, beginning right here in our local community. Our vision extends beyond just organizing events; we aspire to enhance mental health and well-being for everyone involved.

Here’s how we plan to achieve this:

  1. Community-Centered Approach: We firmly believe that strong communities are the backbone of well-being. By actively engaging with local residents, organizations, and businesses, we aim to foster a sense of belonging and connection. Through our events, we encourage people to come together, share experiences, and support one another.

  2. Promoting Mental Health Awareness: Gert Lush Events will serve as a platform to raise awareness about mental health. We’ll host workshops, discussions, and activities that address common mental health challenges. By destigmatizing conversations around mental well-being, we hope to empower individuals to seek help when needed.

  3. Collaboration with Local Services: We’re committed to collaborating with existing mental health services and professionals. By partnering with local clinics, counselors, and support groups, we can provide valuable resources to those seeking assistance. Our events will serve as safe spaces where people can access information and connect with experts.

  4. Inclusive Programming: Our event lineup will be diverse and inclusive. From outdoor fitness sessions to talks on mental health, we’ll cater to various interests and age groups. By offering activities that promote physical health, creativity, and mindfulness, we aim to contribute positively to mental well-being.

  5. Community Feedback and Evaluation: We value feedback from our community members. Regular assessments will help us understand the impact of our events on mental health. We’ll adapt and improve our offerings based on this feedback, ensuring that our initiatives remain relevant and effective.

Join us in this journey toward a healthier, happier community. Together, we can create lasting change and make a difference—one event at a time!

We regularly gift cash to our local coffee shop The Bank, to buy random strangers a cuppa. This has put a smile on not only the recipients face but also the staff, brightening both their days.

All of our events have 2 additional entry requirments:

1, A foodbank item that we donate to our local comunity food bank the GL11 Community Hub

2, A set of old trainers that we send to Jogon, a fantastic charity that reuses or recycles them.

With funds raised by our Backyard ultra, we help an amazing runner secure his place in the Backyard Ultra world championships, Bigs Backyard in the USA.

Thembinkosi Sojola had qualified for the championships, however he lives in South Africa and the expense or getting to the event was an issue, so we reached out to Thembinkosi offered to help.

Thembinkosi made it to the events and completed an impressive 55 yards. #LEGEND

When we first launched The Berkeley Marathons UK, We did so purley to raise money for charity. Today we have grown into Gert Lush Events and are able to do more.

Our first Berkeley raised £624 and we donated this to The British Heart Foundation, but we knew we could do better.

Today we have a main charity called Bigmoose and then every year we choose a smaller charity to support alongside.

Charities like Jades Bag, who received £4000 to help them continue their amazing work.

We want to grow this amount so that we can make a bigger impact every year and support these smaller charities that do fantastic work.

We sponsor a local community garden where we also have one of our "Talking Benches"

This is a fantastic local project that was headed up by 2 local individuals that were tired of looking at waste land left in a terrible state by a housing development. they decided to do something about it and today we have a lovely green space that provides vegetables and more for anyone that needs support.
